Before you know it will be time for our 2018 MCA Convention. This year it will be held in connection with Missouri Valley Arms Collector Association (MVACA) gun show July 28th and 29th. The show is at the Kansas City International Convention Center located just down the street from the Kansas City International (KCI) airport. We are trying to move the convention around the country to allow easier access to our members, meet some new people and hopefully attract some new members. If you know of a good gun show in your area please let me know so we can consider it for future conventions.
While not as big as the Tulsa show there should be about 850 tables of true firearm related items. We will have 2 Display tables and 2 Sales tables so bring something to sell or display. If you desire more than 18” of table space I request that you get your own table, we want to make sure everyone has room. Tables are $100 each and you can try to request yours be next to the MCA tables. Forms are available on the MVACA website.
Rob Blank will be organizing our fun shoot the morning of the 27th at a local range. In the past we have had 3 matches – MS Open Sight; MS Optic Sight; and Any Steyr Rifle. I hope to see some of the new Zephyr II’s out there. Rob will give us details in the next newsletter. The show does not open to Dealers until about 1 that day and closes at 8, so you will have plenty of time to wander around.
Steve Shultz is organizing our Annual Banquet for Saturday night. I am sure it will be delicious and fun for members, spouses and guests. Once he decides on a location we will have cost and other information available.
The other officers and myself will be staying at the Quality Suites KCI. I have made additional reservations and more could possibly be made. It is within walking distance of the show. The address is 1951 NW Ambassador Dr., KC, MO. I booked king suites @ $84/ night plus tax, Double queens are more expensive. I also booked rooms at the Holiday in which is attached to the convention center. Standard double queen rooms are $96 and standard queens are about $145. If you are interested in a room at either hotel please let me know ASAP because they are limited. Unless you are a local I advise arriving on the 26th if you plan to join us in the shoot.
Please start collecting items for the Auction. Go to your favorite gun shop and ask them for items or floor sweepings; search through your stuff; buy a gift certificate; and SEND ME SOMETHING (or better yet bring it yourself). It can be just about anything. In the past besides firearm related items we have had artwork; fishing items; clothing; and many other categories.
If you have not distributed all your raffle tickets please do so ASAP and then get some more. This is our biggest fund raiser and a great deal for the winners. Remember the suggested donation is $5 ea. or 6 for $25. You can always give ticket to your friends as presents.
